New Class for 2023!

Indy Arm’s is proud to present our “Encounters” series of classes.  Each Encounters class focused on the application of firearm and related skills to potential real world situations.  These classes can be taken in any order while students are also taking the Tactical Handgun sequence (I, II, and III).  Currently these classes include Low-Light Encounters, Home Encounters, and Public Encounters. 

Indy Arms’ Home Encounters class (Castle Doctrine) is a four-hour class focused on techniques and skills to dramatically reduce your likelihood of having to defend your occupied home as well as key skills if given no choice. This class covers the issues of communicating and working with others towards common goals in a high stress self-defense encounter.  Class topics include legal use of force, creating a home defense plan, flashlights, use of cover, hostage situations, and movement / room clearing.  Live fire will focus on specific basic shooting skills tailored towards home defense.

The class will consist of about 2.5 hours of classroom time and 1.5 hours of live-fire range time.

The class requires 100 rounds of ammunition.

Course Goal: To begin the structured development of the fundamental skills required to comfortably and effectively defend an occupied home and to provide the student with techniques and exercises to further develop and refine these skills.

2. Firearm options (handgun, shotgun, rifle)
3. Avoid, escape, defend in home settings
4. Use of a flashlight
5. Use of cover
6. Scanning and simple movement in the home
7. hostages

Prerequisites: Students taking Home Encounters should have an understanding of simple marksmanship, and the basic operation of their handgun. Individuals taking this class should have the personal handgun that they intend to use/carry for vehicle and/or home defense, along with a suitable outside-or inside-the-waistband holster or carry purse with a dedicated department for firearms carry. Indy Arms Basic Defensive Handgun, and/or USCCA Concealed Carry Handgun are acceptable prerequisites, as are most classes from recognized shooting schools. Experienced shooters who have not taken any formal classes should contact Indy Arms to make arrangements to drop by for a brief skills checkout. Course Completion: Students will receive an Indy Arms Company certificate of attendance upon completion of the course.

NOTES:

• Rental handguns must use ammunition purchased from Indy Arms
• Students under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult (ask about a youth discount for training classes)
• Students arriving more than 10 minutes after the designated start time may not be allowed into class and will need to reschedule

***Please arrive 15- 20 minutes early to complete the necessary check in process before any training class. This will give us time to verify your range waiver at the counter. This is also the time to buy ammo, holster, hearing and/ or eye protection or anything else you will need for the class. Classes start promptly and we don’t want you to miss anything.***
